      HERMANN ESSER, SIGNED LETTER, IN PURPLE PENCIL, -ESSER- VG, FOLDEDHERMANN ESSER/LETTER RE;(1900 – 1981) Very early member of the Nazi Party. A journalist, Esser was the editor of the Nazi paper, ‘Volkischer Beobachter’, and a Nazi member of the Reichstag, besides being a de facto deputy of Adolf Hitler. Munich, May 25, 1935, to a high-ranking school director, a statement of greeting for a trip to Hungary undertaken by the Munich ‘Lehrergesangvereins’ (‘teacher’s singing club’)As one of Hitler’s earliest followers and friends, he held influential positions in the party during the Weimar Republic, but increasingly lost influence during the Nazi era.Arrested by the Americans after the end of the war in Europe, he was released in May 1948 after being considered an unimportant Nazi official. Esser then went into hiding only to be re-arrested in 1949 by the West German Police.Charged under the new West Germany anti-Nazification laws, he was found guilty of being a “major offender” and sentenced to five years hard labour with a loss of civil rights for life. He was released in 1952

      Postkartengroßes Foto mit eigenhändiger Tintensignatur "Hermann Esser" und rs. Tintenwidmung "Frau Füschlberger mit vielen Dank für den Osterhasen - 7.4.1926". Dazu die Mitgliedskarte von Frau Füschlberger für die Grossdeutsche Volksgemeinschaft e.V. ausgestellt am 6.10.1924, mit einigen Beitrags-und Spendenmarken. Die Grossdeutsche Volksgemeinschaft e.V., war eine Ersatzorganisation für die verbotene NSDAP, gegründet am 15.1.1924 und aufgelöst am 12.3.1925. Hermann Esser war der 1. Vorsitzende der Partei. Hermann Esser trat nach Auflösung sofort der NSDAP bei und bekam die Mitgliedsnummer 2. Bei seiner Heirat am 5.7.1923 war Hitler sein Trauzeuge. Condition: II

A journalist, Esser was the editor of the Nazi paper, Völkischer Beobachter, and a Nazi member of the Reichstag, besides being a de facto deputy of Adolf Hitler. Autograph D.S. in pencil, 1p. oblong 8vo., [n.p., possibly Nuremberg], Oct. 19, 1945, certifying that the example provided is his correct signature, and listing his party title and duties. He signs in pencil at right. Shows a chip to the right edge and slight bumps to the corners, else very good. This piece is illustrated on page 267 of "Leaders & Personalities of the Third Reich", by Charles Hamilton.

      (1900 - 1981) Very early member of the Nazi Party. A journalist, Esser was the editor of the Nazi paper, Voelkischer Beobachter, and a Nazi member of the Reichstag, besides being a de facto deputy of Adolf Hitler. Lot of two rare signed items, includes an early portrait photo, 3 1/2" x 5 1/2" b/w, signed at bottom in black ink: "Hermann Esser". The verso bears his holograph inscription: "Mrs. Fueschlberger with many thanks for the 'Easter Bunny' 7.4.1926". Also present is an example of a very rare partly-printed membership card in the "Grossdeutsche Volksgemeinschaft e.V.", issued on Oct. 4 3/4" x 3 3/4", issued on Oct. 6, 1924 and bearing Esser's stamped signature at lower-left. Some contribution and donation stamps are affixed to verso. Both piece in fine condition. The Grossdeutsche Volksgemeinschaft e.V. was a replacement organization for the banned NSDAP, founded on January 15, 1924 and dissolved on March 12, 1925, making this card excessively rare!

A journalist, Esser was the editor of the Nazi paper "Völkischer Beobachter", and a Nazi member of the Reichstag, besides being a de facto deputy of Adolf Hitler. Good association A.N.S., 1p. 8vo., Berlin, March 21, 1939, to SS officer PHILIPP BOUHLER (1889-1945), who supervised the euthanasia of mentally and physically handicapped patients under the "Aktion T4" program. Esser pens a dedication to his "old comrade" in blue ink, and signs at the conclusion. Likely removed from a book. Shows a horizontal fold, else very good.

In part: "...Sadly this year the Reichsrechnungshof has cancelled my contribution to you and your town. Each town I contact is getting a small sum of money. This year, with careful investment, I hope to be in the position to donate money to you..." Boldly signed in red indelible pencil. Mailing folds, else fine.

      HERMANN ESSER (1900 - 1981) German editor, entered the Nazi party with Adolf Hitler in 1920, became the editor of the "Völkischer Beobachter" and a Nazi member of the Reichstag. He was the Nazi party's first chief of propaganda. T.L.S. 2pp., 4" x 6", Munich Oct. 1970, in part: "....Unfortunately I cannot identify the signature. If you thought it was Christian Weber, he died on a transport in 1945. A man named Max Weber was a speaker for the party in 1922/23, but the police identified him as a spy working for the KPD...". Along with an unsigned Hoffman postcard, 3 1/2" x 5 1/2" showing Esser, chest up, with a canceled 3 Reichsmark stamp on verso.
