A good vintage signed and inscribed 6.5 x 10 photograph of Hepburn in a relaxed semi-profile head and shoulders pose in costume from her Oscar winning performance as Eleanor of Aquitaine, wife of King Henry II of England, from the historical drama film The Lion in Winter, set around the Christmas of 1183. Signed by Hepburn in bold black ink to a light area of the image and inscribed to Lucy Guffey, wife of cinematographer Burnett Guffey, 'For Lucy, affectionately, Kate'. Rare in this form. Granted in 1922, with signatures of the Keepers of the Royal Arms and the brass cased wax seals of King George V (but not signed by him). Rolled parchment, entirely in hand calligraphy, housed in the original presentation case (broken hinge) emblazoned with the King's monogram. 22" x 4" x 4" case. Minor foxing.
