(sight) Framed; verso label: Philadelphia Water Color Exhibition, 1904 Note: Maurice Feely was born in Clonakilty, County Cork, Ireland. He immigrated to the United States in 1873. Around 1890, he studied art under Thomas Eakins at the Art Students' League, later opening a commercial sign painting business. Around 1904, the date of this work, Feely closed his sign painting business to pursue a career as an artist. There is a known portrait of Maurice Feely by Thomas Eakins, dated 1905.
