          Ed Feingersh, Study of a black boy, ca. 1944. Vintage matte gelatin silver print, 8 ¼ x 9 ½ inches.. Everything is fine here—the lighting, the focus, the boy’s expression. Feingersh is a wonderful photojournalist and artist who merits much greater credit. His negatives are scarce. His work as a student of Brodovitch at the New School in NY earned him a position with PIX at the age of 22. His work appeared in many of the major illustrated magazines of the period. He made many daring photographs of combat in the Korean War. Two of his photographs are included in Steichen’s “Family of Man” exhibition. He died at the age of 36. This has his PIX credit stamp on the verso, and “Little Negro” in pencil. Slight handling marks, corners creased.
