Fernando, from 1950 to 1954. Thanks to a grant from the Spanish and French state, he then went to Paris and met the Spanish avant-garde active in Paris. As a result Luis Feito López and his fellow artists Antonio Saura, Manuel Rivera, Rafael Canogar and Manolo Millares founded the group ‘El Paso’ that followed the Spanish Art Informel. After Paris, he moved to Montreal in 1981 and to New York in 1983, where he discovered his interest in sculpture. In 1999 he finally returned to Madrid, where he has since been living and, in turn, in Paris. Luis Feito López’ oeuvre is devoted to the informal, gestural and partly geometric abstraction. His early works were monochrome and linear compositions. In the late 1950s he also worked with unusual materials such as sand. In 1961 his works were first characterized through a strong shade of red that would later dominate his works from 1999 again. A selection of Luis Feito López’ artistic output is represented in international museums, including the National Gallery of Canada in Ottawa, the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía in Madrid and the Ulster Museum in Belfast.
