        Claude-Mathieu Fessard, Am St. Gotthardpass über einen reißenden Gebirgsbach führende Teufelsbrücke am St. Gotthardpass, unter der Darstellung und in der Platte bezeichnet "Vue d´un Passage du Mont St. Gothard", Kupferstich, um 1780, rechts unter der Darstellung bezeichnet "Gravé par Vessard" und links unten unleserlich bezeichnet, aus "Tableaux de la Suisse ou Voyage Pittoresque fait dans les treize Cantons et etats allies du Corps Helvetique", etwas schmutzspurig, auf Unterlagekarton geheftet und hinter Glas gerahmt, Darstellungsmaße ohne Schrift ca. 16 x 23,4 cm, Blattmaße ca. 17,5 x 23,8 cm. Künstlerinfo: frz. Radierer und Kupferstecher (1740 Fontainbleau oder Paris bis nach 1803 Paris), Schüler von de Longueil, arbeitete 1764 für Wille in Sceaux, ging 1765 für einige Zeit nach England, stach mehrere Graphikfolgen, Quelle: Thieme-Becker und Internet. Claude-Mathieu Fessard, Am St. Gotthardpass Ver Teufelsbrücke am St. Gotthardpass führen über einen reißenden Gebirgsbach, inscribed below the depiction and in the plate "Vue d'un Passage du Mont St. Gothard", copper engraving, c. 1780, inscribed "Gravé par Vessard" below the image on the right and illegibly inscribed on the lower left, from "Tableaux de la Suisse ou Voyage Pittoresque fait dans les treize Cantons et etats allies du Corps Helvetique", a little bit soiled, stapled on backing cardboard and framed behind glass, dimensions of image without lettering c. 16 x 23,4 cm, dimensions of sheet c. 17,5 x 23,8 cm. Artist info: French etcher and engraver (1740 Fontainbleau or Paris until after 1803 Paris), pupil of de Longueil, worked for Wille in Sceaux in 1764, went to England for some time in 1765, engraved several series of prints, source: Thieme-Becker and Internet.

[PARIS], 1767 4to (350 x 255mm.), manuscript title ''Oeuvre de Fessard'' within engraved border, 30 engraved plates of domestic animals by Fessard, including cats, dogs, horses, poultry, etc., later half morocco, uncut, last few plates somewhat browned, slight soiling at edges of a few, binding very slightly rubbed; sold as a collection of plates, not subject to return LITERATURE Nissen, ZBI 1349 (with 36 plates); for Fessard see Portalis et Béraldi, Les graveurs du dix-huitième siècle, vol.2, p.152-153. NOTE a rare collection of plates by claude fessard, intended to illustrate a new encyclopaedia planned by Michel Adanson, who had collaborated with Diderot and D'Alembert on the Encyclopédie, and to whom 4 of the plates are dedicated. Adanson's ambitious project presented to the Académie in 1775 never came to fruition although there is an important archive in the Museum d'Histoire Naturelle de Paris.
