*Jean Field (b.1939) *Jean Field (b.1939) The Nativity signed and dated 1977 verso, oil on canvas 137 x 103cm Jean Field began painting seriously in her mid-thirties, when she studied at the Hammersmith College of Art in 1973. Her first solo exhibition was in 1979 for the Federation of British Artists. This work was an exercise in group painting as Jean Field felt this was lacking in contemporary painting. The composition for this work was inspired by 'The Adoration of the Shepherds' by the Le Nain Brothers in the National Gallery. *Artist's Resale Right may apply to this lot.
