Thomas Finchett Art for Sale at Auction

Artist, b. 1858 - d. 1931

The painter Thomas Finchett was a very prolific but nowadays little known artist who produced many highly competent and atmospheric views of north Wales between c. 1870-1920. Thomas Finchett was born in Great Boughton, near Chester in 1858, the son of a Chester grocer. Finchett married Sarah Ann Harrison in Chester in 1882 and they had four children, named Mary, John, Rosa and Joseph. Finchett lived for most of his later life in Llanrwst, north Wales. At Llanrwrst, he painted extensively in the local area - typically scenes of Snowdonia and especially in the Llanberis Pass etc. Thomas Finchett died in Llanrwst in the Summer of 1931.
