      19th century oil on canvas depicting a pastoral scene with young man and woman seated and relaxing amid their farm animals, she with a bucket on her lap and a dog at her feet, he leaning in and touching her shoulder while two sheep stand nearby, inscribed verso on canvas "Georg Ernst Fischer / Dresden about 1860", period gesso and gilt wood frame; sight 8"W, 9 1/4"H; frame 14"W, 15 1/4"H---Condition: painting in good condition with no overpainting or repairs, would benefit from a cleaning, scattered losses to edges of frame, gesso in good condition---Fischer was a portrait and genre painter. He was born in Coburg, Germany, and moved to Baltimore, Maryland, in 1848 where he worked and lived until c. 1858. He then returned to Germany.---Sold to benefit the Laurens County Safehome Network
