      H. Fischer attr.,“Portrait Moritz Fürbringer”, 19th Century

      Est: €1 - €280

Pastel on parchment Germany, early 19th Century Probably Heinrich Fischer (1786-1850) – German painter from Gera At the back with handwritten biographical data on the sitter Overall dimensions, framed: 62 x 53 cm Estimate by Auctionata Expert: 280 EUR This portrait of the theologian and pedagogue Moritz Fürbringer (1802-1874) was most probably created by the Gera painter Heinrich Fischer. It shows the man middle-aged, wearing the typical Biedermeier black necklet. He gazes directly at the spectator with a firm, steadfast expression, his upper body turned slightly to the left. The portrait shows some signs of age. It is a little dusty and has a few stains due to water damage. Part of the parchment has been entirely replaced by the artist along the upper margin. An old handwritten note with biographical information on the sitter is attached to the back of the frame. The dark, wooden frame shows traces of age and use. The overall dimensions are framed 62 x 53 cm, unframed 47 x 38 cm. Shipping costs excl. statutory VAT and plus 2,5% (+VAT) shipping insurance.
