Apollo and artists studio. Apollo the god of music, poetry and the arts (depicted in the painting with the symbols of the god Mars) is seated on a cloud dressed in armour looking down at a naked female who is holding a palette and brushes. On the left hand side a sculptor can be seen producing a sculpture and other figures can also be seen engaged in artistic activity. Looking down upon the scene from the heavens is Fama. The painting is an adaptation of iconographical paintings of Venus and Mars however the artists intension here is a glorification of the arts.
