      *Anne Harriet Fish (1890-1964) *Anne Harriet Fish (1890-1964) Violet - a study of a cat signed 'Fish' and inscribed 'Violet to Edmond & Don', pencil and watercolour 16 x 34cm Anne Harriet Fish was successful cartoonist and illustrator contributing works to Vanity Fair, Vogue, The Sketch and Tatler. Her illustrations for the ‘Letters of Eve’ in Tatler caused a sensation and this illustrated figure became the influence behind subsequent films, theatre and books. Fish remained the illustrator of ‘Eve’ until 1920. Included in this lot are: ‘The Eve Book’, ‘The New Eve’, ‘The Third Eve Book’ and ‘Eve and her Evolution of a Pretty Kettle of Fish’. *Artist's Resale Right may apply to this lot.       A Hubley artist-signed doorstop of two footmen in original enamel paint, signed 'Fish' for British illustrator and designer Anne Harriet Fish (1890-1964) on the base, numbered 272 on the back. Measures 9.5 inches. Anne Fish was an illustrator for Vanity Fair magazine and partnered with Hubley to create novelty items based on her illustrations.

      Group of 8 drawings, pen and ink, the largest 820 x 635 mm, the smallest 370 x 270 mm, being illustrations for Vanity Fair and Vogue , 1922-1923. Born in Bristol, England, Fish was active as an artist in London, Sussex and St. Ives and a frequent contributor to English and American magazines. She worked for publisher Condé Nast for fifteen years, contributing over 30 covers to his periodicals. In her satirical drawings of high society, she helped develop the popular image of the flapper. Her witty style is reminiscent of that of John Held, Jr. and other cartoonists of the Roaring Twenties. Most of these drawings have titles and descriptions in pencil in the artist's hand.
