Oil on canvas, (26.75 x 22.125 inches), unsigned; housed in a gilt gesso frame mounted with a rococo shell at each corner. Frame: H: 34.5 in., W: 29.5 in., D: 3.375 in. Provenance: William Shimmin was born in Byfield, Massachusetts, in 1777. He married Eliza (Elizabeth) Parker, who was born in Boston in 1787. She was the daughter of John Parker (b. Brookline, 1757) and Elizabeth Phillips (b. Boston, 1754).
