Joe Fugate Sold at Auction Prices

b. 1941 - d. 2017

Joe Fugate was born August 29, 1941 in Kentucky along with his twin brother Tom. He served his country in the Air Force and after being honorably discharged attended both the Kendall School of Art and Design in Grand Rapids MI and CCS in Detroit MI (which was not called CCS at the time). He has been a Detroiter since 1969 and an artist even longer. Formerly proprietor of C.A.D.E. gallery in Royal Oak MI (no longer in business). Joe passed away in August of 2017.

          Detailed book consisting of 34 pages of loosely narrative sketches. Titled "Musing on Existential Gravy" on cover. Front page at top reads "This is my self portrait, self portrait, autobiographical drawing book." Each page of the book has a detailed surreal sketch centering around some type of theme. The majority of sketches are titled "Kentucky Dada" and deal with a host of politically incorrect issues. Sketches are done excellently. Most are in black and white but some have color. Covers of book are painted by the artist as well. Most sketches are individually signed as is the front cover of the book. Book measures 13 inches by 22 inches.
