        Fujishima Takeji (1867-1943, Japan), Ukiyo-e Woodblock Titled "Moonlight at Sarusawa Pond, Sawa," c. 1952. Depicting a night scene by Sarusawa Pond. Site size: 9.75"h x 15"l, Framed: 15.5"h x 20.75"l. Takeji's family was of the ex-samurai class and he trained as a painter. Studying first in Japan and later in Paris and Italy, his style is influenced by the Western Art movements of Romanticism and Art Nouveau. Returning to Tokyo he became a professor at the Tokyo Art School.
