Florencio Galindo, an important exponent of Spanish realism, was interested in dealing with natural themes (pigeons, flowers...) but always showing the mark of man, his determination to domesticate nature, as can be seen in "Palomar". Galindo is considered one of the most important painters of the second generation of the so-called new Spanish realism. He was a disciple of Antonio López and a lecturer at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Complutense University of Madrid. Admired by the writer Antonio Gala, who dedicated moving words to him on the occasion of one of his exhibitions in Madrid, he has also received praise from artists of the stature of Benjamín Palencia, who defined him as "the complete of art". Since 1968, when he began his career, Florencio Galindo has participated in solo and group exhibitions in Madrid, Paris, New York, Helsinki (Finland), Valencia, Barcelona, Bilbao, Valladolid, Belgrade (Serbia), Caracas (Venezuela), Munich (Germany) and Sao Paulo (Brazil). In 1998, a work by Florencio Galindo, from an American collection, was exhibited at the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao together with a work by Antonio López, the only two Spaniards selected. In September 2013, his work could be seen at the Monastery of Santa María de Valbuena, in Valladolid, thanks to the Fundación Las Edades del Hombre, as he was the artist chosen to initiate a cycle of exhibitions. A few months later, Florencio Galindo returned to Ávila after 20 years without exhibiting in his homeland. In the Palacio de los Serrano, 27 large-format paintings were exhibited. His latest exhibition is 'The poetics of freedom', which from July to November is on show at Cuenca Cathedral, in an initiative to commemorate Cervantes together with Ai Weiwei, Martín Chirino and Rafael Canogar, among others.
