JORGE GALINDO (Madrid, 1965). Untitled, 1997. Painting on photomontage. With Soledad Lorenzo Gallery label on the back. Dated on the front. Provenance: Important Spanish Collection.

      Est: €8,000 - €10,000

JORGE GALINDO (Madrid, 1965). Untitled, 1997. Painting on photomontage. With Soledad Lorenzo Gallery label on the back. Provenance: Important Spanish Collection. Dated on the front. Size: 160 x 120 cm; 200 x 160 cm (frame). Jorge Galindo's works are framed within the framework of gestural abstraction and are characterised by the obsessive use of the collage technique, very often used in large format compositions. The artist often uses images from the media of the fifties and sixties, thus introducing a critique of capitalist and consumer society. Jorge Galindo began his artistic training at the Talleres de Arte Actual del Círculo de Bellas Artes in Madrid, starting his exhibition career during the eighties, his first exhibition being held at the Galería Víctor Martín (Madrid, 1989) and in 1994 he exhibited at the Galería Soledad Lorenzo. His production has been characterised by research and experimentation in painting. His first productions were an example of experimentation with the material and tactile aspects of painting. Galindo's work is close to a type of gestural abstraction, giving great importance to the intervention of chance and material aspects. It is true that, from his first works, exhibited in the mid-eighties, Jorge Galindo combined painting with photographic collages. However, during the 1990s he experimented with photomontages in which he used images from the illustrated media of the 1950s and 1960s and in which he expresses a critique of consumer society. Galindo's work has developed through series with a clear thematic unity, although expressed with stylistic resources of complex variety. His most important series include Pintura animal, La vie des bêtes, exhibited in the MNCARS's Espacio Uno. His work has been exhibited in the most important galleries in the USA, Mexico, Portugal, Italy, Germany and Belgium.

Tears in the margins. Measurements: 35 x 27,5 cm; 63 x 55 cm (frame). Suggestive oneiric composition characteristic of the personal surrealism that Jorge Galindo developed in the nineties, being represented by the Soledad Lorenzo Gallery. Jorge Galindo began his artistic training linked to the Talleres de Arte Actual del Círculo de Bellas Artes in Madrid, starting his exhibition career during the eighties, his first exhibition taking place in the Galería Víctor Martín (Madrid, 1989) and in 1994 he exhibited in the Galería Soledad Lorenzo. His production has been characterised by research and experimentation in painting. His work, in most cases in large format, is determined by an exercise in the collage technique. His first productions were an example of experimentation with the material and tactile aspects of painting. It is in this period that we can insert this work, in which we see that the artist has managed, through the use of canvases, to insert painting in an almost physical way. In this way Galindo's work approaches a type of gestural abstraction, giving great relevance to the interventions of chance and material aspects. Signed, dated and titled on the back. Measurements: 195 x 300 cm. This work belongs to the last series of works by Jorge Galindo, one of the most valued in the artist's career. To create this series of 2021, the artist carried out a documentation work influenced by old postcards with floral images. Inspired by what he calls "unreal compositions and colours", Galindo has created a series in which flowers of great dynamic expressiveness dominate the compositions, becoming the protagonists of scenes charged with great poetic intensity. In this specific case "Souvenir Murnau II", Galindo works on a canvas on which a print can be seen that reproduces an idyllic view of the German city of Murnau, on which the artist has intervened working directly with the paint that seems to start from an abstract conception, with apparently random brushstrokes that come together to create a floral composition that ascends to the symbolic. The work is completed with writing that gives the image the idea of a postcard, evoking a memory of the artist, who turns the viewer into an active spectator, as if he were the one receiving the postcard from the artist. Jorge Galindo began his artistic training linked to the Talleres de Arte Actual del Círculo de Bellas Artes in Madrid, beginning his exhibition career during the eighties, his first exhibition being held at the Galería Víctor Martín (Madrid, 1989) and in 1994 he exhibited at the Galería Soledad Lorenzo.
