The tower in the background and a man shooting a bow suggest a historical or fairy-tale narrative. The sheet was acquired together with an almost identically sized and very similar signed watercolour by Hippolyte Garnerey. OS: 25 1/2" x 31 1/2", SS: 16 3/4" x 23 3/4". Cleaned, relined, retouched, minor loss to frame.
