      Books: GARNETT, Eve (1900-91). The Family from One End Street and some of their Adventures. London: Frederick Muller, 1937. 8vo. Half title, illustrations by the author (some very light marginal spotting and staining). Original pink cloth, spine lettered in dark blue (a few small white stains). FIRST EDITION, PRESENTATION COPY, the half title inscribed, "Toppy, with love from Eve. Christmas 1937." The Family from One End Street won the Carnegie medal as the best childre's book of 1937, despite competition from The Hobbit. It is today regarded as a children's classic. Loosely-inserted is an ORIGINAL PENCIL DRAWING by Eve Garnett (114 x 95mm) of children playing in a steeply-rising street, inscribed, "From 'Mr Crundell's Cow' ... illustrated for a school Reader," and further inscribed on the verso by Eve Garnett to "Toppy".
