  • Georgia Gerber (American; 1955-) "Jesse and Mercedes" Original Bronze Sculpture Signed & Numbered 8/9 W/COA
    Jul. 29, 2017

Georgia Gerber (American; 1955-) "Jesse and Mercedes" Original Bronze Sculpture Signed & Numbered 8/9 W/COA

    Est: $9,500 - $10,000

Georgia Gerber (American; 1955-) "Jesse and Mercedes" Original Bronze Sculpture Signed & Numbered 8/9 W/COA - This lovely piece is a cast bronze sculpture by well-known American sculptor Georgia Gerber. The piece is titled "Jesse and Mercedes", and is a beautiful depiction of a young boy with his furry friend, a fluffy cat. The piece shows stunning attention to detail, and when viewing the piece it feels as though you are actually standing face to face with the young child. The piece has a lovely natural patina, and is in beautiful condition. The sculpture has been hand signed by the artist, and numbered 8/9. This is a rare find as there were only nine of these pieces created by Gerber, but it is extra special as the subject matter includes the young boy. Gerber's subjects are almost always of animals, and it is rare to find her pieces including other subject matter. The sculpture measures approx. 22"H x 15"W x 18"D, and rests on a 16" x 16" x 16" pedestal base. This piece will also come with a certificate of authenticity. Georgia Gerber studied sculpture and bronze casting at Bucknell University, and later moved west to attend Graduate School at the University of Washington. Her professional career began at that time. She operates her own studio and foundry on rural Whidbey Island, Washington, with the assistance of two women artisans and her husband. She primarily works with life size animal figures, often incorporating architectural or abstract elements into the design. Gerber has permanent public works around the globe, including Tokyo, Japan, San Francisco Zoo, Cincinnatti Zoo, and countless others.
