Germela' Fine frame from the artist's period Dimensions: 110 x 88 cm Good condition Sensual depiction of a young lady during her morning toilet; paintings by Germela fetch up to €25,000 on the international art market Raimund Germela depicted a young woman during her morning wash. Sitting in front of a mirror with a magnificent gold stucco frame, the girl is pinning up her luscious hair. The delicate flesh tones of the naked body are contrasting with the sumptuous textures of the fabrics draped all around, which intensify the sensuous atmosphere. With her back turned, the girl seems unaware of the viewer's presence, however the mirror reveals her flirtatious gaze and mischievous smile. Germela created several paintings of this kind in which he portrayed young women grooming or getting dressed. The painting is signed lower right 'R. Germela'. It is in good condition with fine craquelure. There are a few small retouchings to the hair of the figure and the reflection. The frame is slightly chipped in places. The framed work measures 127 x 105 cm, the stretcher frame measures 110 x 88 cm. Raimund Germela (1868-1945) Raimund Germela studied at the Academy of Arts in Vienna and was a pupil of Leopold Carl Müller and Josef Matyas Trenkwald. He continued his studies in Paris, Munich, England and Italy. In 1898, he settled in Vienna and became a member of the Hagenbund and the Wiener Künstlerhaus. Germela's versatile oeuvre includes interiors, genre paintings and scenes of urban life. Shipping costs excl. statutory VAT and plus 2,5% (+VAT) shipping insurance. Raimund Germela studierte zunächst an der Wiener Akademie, bevor er weitere Lehrjahre in Paris und München, in England und Italien verbrachte. 1898 ließ er sich in Wien nieder und wurde von 1900 bis 1906 Mitglied im "Hagenbund". Obwohl Germela verschiedentlich japanische Motive in seinen Werken behandelte, ist bislang keine Reise nach Japan des Künstlers dokumentiert.
