Artwork published as a collectible card in the deck "The Art of Heavy Metal Collector Cards" by Comic Images in 1995. Later the work was published in the 2008 FAAC Calendar dedicated to Guardino's art. Internationally considered one of the greatest exponents of the ligne claire, the Bolognese master is here at his artistic peak. A museum piece. Signed.

The Bolognese master published the adventures of Sam Pezzo for the first time in the magazine Il Mago thanks to the foresight of its director Beppi Zancan, this is the first cover of the Bolognese detective, inspired by the story published in this issue entitled "Risveglio amaro". An extraordinary work not only from an artistic and historical point of view but also from a technical point of view, Giardino in fact had to adapt to the blueprint printing technique of the magazine, realizing the work on three distinct layers: the tempera color on cardboard, the ink line drawing on acetate shet and a second sheet of acetate in which the author painted the raindrops in ink with white lead reflections. L’ha fatto da par suo, scegliendo un personaggio ispirato al più geniale creatore di immagini del ‘900, Winsor Mc Cay. Le atmosfere oniriche mediate dall’artista statunitense, unite all’indubbia capacità dell’artista bolognese di disegnare donnine in stile “linea chiara”, hanno creato un personaggio magico e sensuale. Le opere originali di Giardino, rarissime, sono collezionate in Europa e oltreoceano.
