Jost Giese was born in 1953, and was a painter and graphic artist.

From 1969-72, the artist held an apprenticeship as an electrical mechanic with Abitur. From 1974-75, Giese attended evening classes of the Academy of Visual Arts Leipzig. From 1975-80, the artist studies at the Academy for Visual Arts with Fritz Fröhlich, Sighard Gille, Arno Rink and Bernhard Heisig. From 1980-83, Jost Giese was a master student of Bernhard Heisig.
