      Gilbert (William Schwenck, 1836-1911). Autograph letter signed 'W.S. Gilbert', Grim's Dyke, Harrow Weald, 10th August 1906, to Baron Ernsthausen, regretting that the Savoy Operas 'are not available for your purpose. The town & country rights are vested in Mr. D'Oyly Carte until 1910 when (as far as the libretto is concerned) they revert to me. In the meantime Mrs. Carte uses her London rights in order to take her country companies to the outlying London theatres... ' and concluding 'I have begged her to allow me to buy them back, but she absolutely refuses to part with them on any terms', 2 pp. on the first and fourth page of a bifolium letterhead, together with Sullivan (Arthur, 1842-1900), Autograph letter signed 'Arthur S. Sullivan', 8 Albert Mansions, [London], SW, n.d., to [Karl] Deichmann, 'If ever an opportunity arrived for the dark gentleman to do the light gentleman a good turn, depend upon it he will do it', 1 pp. on printed letterhead with integral blank, plus an autograph letter signed from the artist Walter Severn to Brabazon, dated 28th November 1862, and referring to Deichmann, two autograph letters signed from George Grove to Deichmann, 18th and 19th January 1894, a third person secretarial letter from Tennyson to Deichmann, Faringford, 14th May 1860, giving him permission to publish 'The Brook' with Deichmann's music, plus two other items including a typed letter signed by conductor Henry J.
