    JEFF GOODMAN (1961 - 2012) UNTITLED cast glass, 2" x 13.25" x 6.5" -- 5.1 x 33.7 x 16.5 cm., unsigned, circa 2001 Provenance: The Guild Store, Toronto, ON Note: 25th Anniversary Limited Edition Collector's Piece; JEFF GOODMAN (1961 - 2012) Jeff Goodman was born in Vancouver, British Columbia and moved to Ontario to pursue his dream of building wooden boats: he enrolled at Sheridan College in the woodworking program. Having to choose a second medium as part of the curriculum, he glass on a whim. It was through his teacher and mentor's, Daniel Chriton, encouragement that Goodman shifted his major from woodworking to glass and pursued a career in glass in 1981. Chriton could see the Goodman furthered his studies in design at the University of Illinois, receiving his B.F.A and continued the bond with Sheridan College as a faculty member from 1987 to 1994. He returned to Toronto to complete a three-year residency at Harborfrount Center before setting up Jeff Goodman Studio in 1989. He began pushing the boundaries of design in glass, researching and testing the potential of this medium as a structural material. Goodman earned his reputation as one of Canada's preeminent glass blowers, his works being part of major corporate and private collections internationally. Perhaps best known for his collections of shapely and vibrantly hued glass vessels, Goodman was also an innovator in the field of architectural glass, his work can be seen in public spaces, galleries and cultural enters in Toronto and around the world, including the Enso chandelier in the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Toronto, glass panels for the porte-cochère of the Hazleton Residence and Hotel. Goodman passed away at the age of 41.
