Gould, John Hand Colored Lithograph Tetraophasis

    Est: $600 - $800

Gould, John (English 1804-1881) and William Hart, Hand colored Lithograph, Tetraophasis obscurus (Mou-Pin Snow-Partridge) for Gould's Birds of Asia, 1850-83. Given the vast geographical scope of his work (from Syria to Japan to the Moluccas), it is hardly surprising that the Birds of Asia spanned 30 years (1850-83). It brought to the public attention many previously unknown species, including magnificent pheasants from China. These were given to Gould by the amateur naturalist Robert Swinhoe, an intriguing example of the regard in which Gould and his work were held by the Victorian public. (WSF) Measurements: Approx. Image 15.5 x 11.5 inches, framed 22.5 x 18.5 inches. 4.5lbs. Condition: Print in apparent very good condition, not removed from frame. Some toning to paper. Frame has scratches, display wear. • Gould, John Hand Colored Lithograph Tetraophasis

Gould, John Hand Colored Lithograph Tetraophasis

    Est: $1,000 - $1,500

Domestic Shipping:$125
