Peter Gourfain b. 1934

Sculptor-printmaker Peter Gourfain was born in Chicago, Illinois. He studied at the Chicago Art Institute graduating with a BFA in 1956. He currently teaches ceramic sculpture at Greenwich House Pottery and has taught at the Rhode Island School of Design, University of Southern Maine, Skowhegan School in Maine, the Massachusetts College of Art, Louisiana State University, Cranbrook Academy, Kent State University, and School of Visual Arts.

Gourfain is a member of the Artists Equity. He has received commissions from the Greenwich House Pottery for bronze medallions; the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, twenty-four bronze reliefs; for National Park Service in Lowell, MA, a bronze stele; and ten ceramic urns at Ohio State University.
