Gowans (Scottish, 1843-1924) Aberdeen Harbor oil on canvas laid down to masonite painting depicting a harbour scene with a variety of vessels coming and going from port, with townscape backdrop. Signed and dated on canvas attached to verso. Mounted in ornate gilt carved frame with artist nameplate. Large area of inpainting at upper left corner; scattered smaller areas of inpainting through the sky and at center of canvas to address a vertical stretcher mark, craquelure in the sky, mild chipping to frame.
