VALENTINE GREEN (ENGLISH, 1739-1813) AFTER VAN DYCK (FLEMISH, 1599-1642) ENGRAVING OF SIR THOMAS WHARTON, mezzotint engraving on laid paper, after the famous 1639 portrait by Anthony van Dyck which had hung "In the Marble Parlour at Houghton", from a series of engravings after paintings located in the Walpole Collection at Houghton, published in March 1775 by John Boydell, Cheapside, London. Housed under glass in a modern frame. Fourth quarter 18th century. 16 1/2" x 23 1/4" sight, 18 1/4" x 25" OA.

Sorgfältig angerändert, geschlossener Einriss im Himmel, leichte Oberflächenbeschabungen, weitere geringe Alters- und Gebrauchsspuren, im Gesamteindruck jedoch gut.
