[After immigrating with his family to the United States as a young boy, Gregoropoulos returned to Greece to fight against both the Nazis and Communists during and after World War II. In the late 1940s, the artist returned to the States where he later attended college, got married, and had three children. Over his long teaching career, Gregoropoulos served as an art instructor at the Norwich Free Academy, UCONN, and Connecticut College.]
