        Maty Grunberg (b.1943) - Figures, Oil on Canvas, 1969. Signed, dated on the reverse. 24.5x38.5cm. Maty Grunberg (born March 4, 1943) is an Israeli sculptor and creator of artist books. He was born in Skopje, Macedonia, Yugoslavia. In 1948 he immigrated to Israel with his parents and sister Liora and grew up in Bat Yam. His father, Lau, was an engineer and inventor and, among other things, designed the Sid-Mimat factories in the Shafia quarry. His mother, Bela, is a scion of the ancient Kimchi family that originates from Toledo in Spain. Greenberg graduated from Bezalel in 1966 and went on to complete his masters studies at the Central School of Art in London in 1971. Lived and worked in London and New York for 44 years. In 2007 Greenberg returned to Israel and opened a studio in Bat Yam. His partner - Naomi R. Ezer, Lalonas father - promotes drugs for cancer, his daughter Bat-Ami - a drama teacher, and his son David - an architect.
