      Est: €1,280 - €1,600

Oil on canvas Germany, around 1930 Gitta Gurlitt (1894-1956) – German artist Dimensions: 52.5 x 65.5 cm Profile frame: 64.5 x 77.5 cm Good condition Provenance: from the inventory of a former Berlin gallery Very interesting painting in harmonious coloring by Gitta Gurlitt, that clearly shows the influence of New Objectivity This painting is the work by Gitta Gurlitt, member of the well-known family of artists, art historians and art dealers. It shows two sisters. They are depicted as half-figures, arranged one after another centrally placed on the image area in landscape-format. Especially their upper bodies are stylized into solid round shapes with a linear stress that let they became a compositionally unit. The surrounding area is created rather in abstract two-dimensionality despite partially hinted perspective. The coloring is dominated by pastel-like clouded tones of blue, green and pink. Thus the German artist Gitta Gurlitt (1894-1956), born in Graz, has created a very interesting painting that in his stylized realism clearly shows the influence of New Objectivity. Condition: The painting is overall in good condition with occasional small touch-ups, especially in the corners, and minor craquelure. The frame, too, is in good condition with slight signs of wear. The painting measures 52.5 x 65.5 cm. The framed dimensions are 64.5 x 77.5 cm.
