Peintre, dessinateur, lithographe, graveur, céramiste, illustrateur, il expose à Paris dès 1928 à la galerie du Taureau et en 1930 à la Galerie Bénézit. Lauréat du prix de la villa Abd El Tif, il séjourne à Alger de 1933 à 1935 et visite le Sud Algérien. En 1939, il est mobilisé au Maroc puis démobilisé et en 1943, il est affecté à Alger et collabore au journal « Combattant 43 ». Correspondant de guerre, il suit en 1944-45 les campagnes de France et d’Allemagne. En 1945, il expose ses œuvres de guerre à la galerie de Berri. En 1952, il est nommé peintre de la Marine et participe à de nombreuses missions à bord des bâtiments de la Marine Nationale (ceci jusqu’en 1985). En 1961, il choisit Paul Pétridès comme marchand. Des années 1957 aux années 1972, il séjourne ou effectue des voyages, successivement à Venise, au Maroc, en U.R.S.S., en Israël, en Grande-Bretagne, au Sénégal, en Côte d’Ivoire, etc…, sans compter ses missions autour du monde en tant que peintre de la Marine. Andre Hambourg (1909 - 1999) Colorpencil & Watercolor on paper, Signed Lower Right, Measures (10 x 13 inches) w/frame (16 x 20 inches) Having studied at the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Arts Decoratifs and the Ecole Nationale des Beaux-Arts in the studio of Lucien Simon, Parisien born Andre Hambourg, known for his luminous landscapes and seascapes, became a dedicated painter beginning 1927. During the 1930s, he worked in studios in Montparnasse where he had much exposure to modernist movements and its artists. During World War II, he served as a journalist for France and also did much painting from his extensive travels in that capacity, especially to Morocco and Algiers. Towards the end of the war, he fought for the liberation of France. In 1951, his distinguished reputation as "the grand gentleman of French Post-Impressionism" (Christina) was underscored with his receipt of the Cross of the Chevalier of the Legion of Honor. In 1961, he was honored with the Grande Medaille de Vermeil of the City of Paris

Douglas Volk (1856-1935) American portrait and figure painter, muralist, and educator. He taught at the Cooper Union, the Art Students League of New York, and was one of the founders of the Minneapolis School of Fine Arts. He and his wife Marion established a summer artist colony in western Maine. Signed 1931 bank check. 1800 English engraving. Alexander Pope (1849-1924) American artist. Small original ink drawing of man on horse. Not signed. 1896 Boston Museum theatre page. 1919 Theatre program. 1922 Tremont Theatre program [Boston]. Edwin Whitefield (1816-1892) American landscape artist who is best known for his lithographed views of North American cities and for a number of illustrated books on colonial homes in New England. Original lithograph of The Hollister House in Wethersfield. Six printed cards. Also 10 torn up pieces of paper removed from art works by Merv Slotnick - you can make your own collage with these. All are contained in a box painted by Slotnick.
