        Oil on canvas, unlined 76 by 105 cm.; 30 by 41 1/4 in. Grey Momus, by Comus out of Cervantes was bred by Lord George Bentinck in 1835 and trained by John Day. He won ten races, including in 1838 the 2000 guineas, the Ascot Gold Cup and the St. Leger, and came third in the Derby. In 1839 he ran seven times, and won the Porter Stakes before being sold to Count Hhan later in that year.
