Carrere & Hastings, Peachtree Heights Plat, 1925

    Est: $10,000 - $20,000

An exceedingly rare and desirable Carrere and Hastings (American (New York), 1885-1911), the firm of John Merven Carrere (1858-1911) and Thomas Hastings (1860-1929), hand-drawn architectural plat or plan for the subdivision of property of The Peachtree Heights Park Co. in Atlanta, Georgia, circa 1925. Large black ink rendered plan on paper for the noted Beaux-Arts architectural firm's only design project in Atlanta and the only subdivision in their firm's history with streets, parkways, lots (noted as sold), block sections, and landscape portrayed throughout. Lower left with title for plat as well as scale and project contributors including E.A. Stevens & Co. of Hoboken, New Jersey(engineering firm) with Frank Stone Tainter (1862-1941) above information on the New York based architects. Work also noting that this is a revised plate from March of 1925 under L.H. Fitzpatrick. C.E. and that there was an earlier revision in 1915--the project began circa 1910.. Unframed (including later selvedge) measures approximately 37.75" x 87.4". Note: Due to its architectural and historical significance, Peachtree Heights Park Historic District was included in the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. The neighborhood includes hundreds of classical homes in English Tudor, Georgian and Regency styles among other architectural genres. Carrere and Hastings design emphasized the natural beauty of the rolling, tree covered landscape in their placement of roads and lots. Today, the area is known as Peachtree Heights West.
