(1748 Sommerein/Ungarn - 1820 wohl in Augsburg) Sechs Blätter mit italienischen Ansichten Altkolorierte Aquatintaradierungen, um 1800. 3 Blätter nach Motiven von Robert Freebairn (davon 2 Blätter erschienen bei Francis Jukes in London, um 1798), 2 Blätter nach Hubert Robert und ein Blatt nach Salvator Rosa. Überwiegend unterhalb typographisch bez. und betitelt, 2 Blätter beschnitten bis zum Motiv. Seltene Folge von hochqualitativen, malerischen Ansichten italienischer Destinationen wie die Quelle der Nymphe Egeria bei Rom und die antiken Ruinen der Villa von Maecenas in Tivoli. Hauer hielt sich um 1780 in Paris auf und ging ab 1785/86 nach Augsburg, wo er bei J. Ingerl die Bildhauerei erlernte. In seinen Pariser und frühen Augsburger Jahren war er als Zeichner und Stecher für den Ornamentstich tätig, später schuf er zahlreiche Landschaften, Historienbilder und Viehstücke, u.a. 16 Ansichten von Tivoli. Darstellung ca. 42,5 cm x 57 cm. Rahmen. Provenienz: Sächsischer Adelsbesitz. Six hand-coloured aquatints and etchings with Italian views by Johann Thomas Hauer after Salvator Rosa, Robert Freebairn and Hubert Robert. Partly published in London by Francis Jakes circa 1800.
