ROSS HAYLETT

I have always been a practical man, though in education until age 18 I have always worked with my hands. My strongest interest has been with farming and agriculture from as long as I can remember. I took particular interest in the farm machinery and in 2005 I set up my own agricultural engineering business. Metalwork is a large part of my work, though my ability is mostly self-taught since my passion behind it has always motivated me to learn more and more. People come to me if they need bespoke work doing, including vast lengths of railings built from scratch.

I had always thought of creating sculpture since much of my work requires unique design and innovation, however I was afraid of adverse responses to my creations. Morv and John gave me the confidence to pursue my ambitions as a sculptor, and as soon as John and I got started creating I never looked back, and I have enjoyed every moment. When we meet in the workshop it gives me an escape from my everyday chores and I’m devoted to what we do.
