In 1978, Roswitha Hecke produced a photographic documentation about the Zurich-based prostitute Irene, whom she accompanied for three weeks. The work belong to Roswitha Hecke’s successful book ‘Liebes Leben’, which was awarded with the Kodak prize for the best photographic book in 1979 and also honored with the prize of ‘The Most Beautiful Book’ by the Foundation ‘Buchkunst’ in 1982. The print is verso signed, inscribed and dated with pencil ‘Roswitha Hecke Rom 1978’. The work is in very good condition. The image sizes is c. 36 x 27 cm. Roswitha Hecke (b. 1944) Roswitha Hecke was born in Hamburg, Germany, in 1944. In 1963 she finished her apprenticeship as a photographer and started to document several theatre and film productions. In the 1970s she travelled through the world, including trips to Guatemala, Peru, Bolivia, India, Egypt, Nepal and St. Petersburg. Temporarily, she also lived in Paris, Mexico, Barcelona, Morocco and America. In 2002 she taught the master class of photography at the Academy of Fine Arts in St. Petersburg.
