    ROBERT HENDERSON (UK, 1826-1904) Miniature oil on ivory in 14K gold case of King Edward VII (1841-1910) in Uniform as Captain of HMY 'Britannia', a gaff-rigged cutter yacht built in 1898 (note burgee tie pin, initialed 'RH' over his right shoulder, dated 1896 and inscribed on backing paper "Painted by R. Henderson, Dickenson & Foster, 114 New Bond S., London W, 1898". Under convex glass lens. with more satin back. 4 1/2" x 3 1/4" including suspension loop.

    ROBERT HENDERSON (1826 - 1904) Portrait en buste du jeune Prajadhipok, futur Roi du Siam, Rama VII, en uniforme et décorations. Miniature ovale sur ivoire signée et datée à gauche 1901. H_8,5 cm L_6,5 cm Historique : intéressant document figurant le jeune Roi du Siam qui entreprit ses études en Angleterre et y demeura assez longtemps. A son retour, il devint le dernier Roi du Siam, la Thaïlande moderne. Bibliographie : à propos du miniaturiste Robert Henderson, on consultera l'ouvrage de Daphné Foskett (p. 563). Né à Dumfries, en Ecosse, cet artiste de talent domicilié 114 New Bond street à Londres, se fit rapidement une clientèle aisée parmi l'aristocratie anglaise dont le Duc de Rutland et les royautés étrangères de passage à Londres.
