Prolific local artist Chayni Henry has been drawing inspiration from Darwin’s iconic buildings and famous facades. Four years in the making her new solo show Foundation is a celebration of some of our best known, most loved, infamous, interesting and even banal places.

A series of 23 paintings done in the artist’s well known style that combines fluid hand drawing with adjunct narrative, the new works are shaped cut-outs which give them a sculptural linearity.

From the historic stone work of Browns Mart in Smith Street, to the “green can” house design of Troppo architects, to the banal, yet domineering and ever present water towers that dot the landscape.
