(31.4 x 44.5cm) Condition report: The sheet appears toned with time. Surface staining is present at the extreme edges. The sheet has minor rips and tears at the extreme edges, largely obscured the mat when framed. With occasional splotches of water staining that may be inherent to the work, particularly along the upper left margin. The sheet is inscribed in pencil 'H355' in top right margin and 'sample' on verso. The sheet has remnants of previous mounting present on the verso. In overall good to fair condition.     "A Virginia Wedding" Photogravure, hand colored, printed by C.Klackner in 1899 after artist, Edward Lamson Henry. Edward Lamson Henry, also known as E.L. Henry, was an American painter best known for his rural genre scenes. Born in Charleston, South Carolina, he studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and briefly in Paris, under Gustave Courbet and Charles Gleyre at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts. Upon returning to the United States, he set up a studio in New York's Tenth Street Studio Building. During the American Civil War, Henry served as a captain’s desk clerk on a Union transport vessel, which allowed him to document the war from an artists perspective. Afterward, in 1867, he was elected an associate of the National Academy of Design in New York and became a full academician just two years later in 1869. He was buried in Johnstown, New York after succumbing to pneumonia in 1919. In frame measures 24"x32"X1". Weight 9 pds.
