MUSIKALISCHES STÄNDCHEN Öl auf Leinwand. 100 x 59 cm. Links oben signiert „A. Heullant“. In vergoldetem Prunkrahmen. In einem edel eingerichteten, schlossähnlichen Interieur ein junger sitzender Edelmann in rot leuchtender Hose und rotem Barrett, auf einer Laute spielend, um seiner Angebeteten ein Ständchen darzubringen. Diese steht seitlich von ihm in einem edlen schwarz-blauen Gewand mit wertvollem Schmuck und sorgsam gekämmten Haaren mit großer Schmuckverzierung. Sie hat ihren leicht nach rechts gesenkten Kopf auf ihrer Hand abgestützt und schaut gedankenverloren in Richtung des jungen Mannes, der sie mit seinen erhobenen Augen anhimmelt. Im Hintergrund rechts fällt der Blick auf einen Gang mit hölzerner Tür und einem großen hängenden Bronzeleuchter. Romantische Malerei, die die Faszination für das Mittelalter erkennen lässt. Armand Heullant (1834–1909) Lady and a Lutenist

With this panitning Armand continued the tradition of troubadour paintings from the first half of the 19th century with its romantic enthusiasm for the Middle Ages. In a late Gothic interior of the 15th century, a lady listens to a cavalier playing the lute. You can tell from the faces that love is about the song as well as between the two people. The furnishings, the tapestry on the wall and the realities are depicted with great precision and realistic persuasiveness, giving the people a harmonious ambience.
