(1612 Utrecht - 1692 ebenda) Umkreis Paar Landschaften Gegenstücke. Atmosphärisch gestimmte Fels- und Flusslandschaften im Abendlicht mit Jäger bzw. Kahn und Figuren am Ufer. Motiv, Komposition und Stil zeigen evidente Bezüge zu den Werken des Utrechter Landschaftsmalers Willem de Heusch, einem Schüler Jan Boths. Dieser hielt sich um 1640-1649 in Italien und Frankreich auf und schuf nach seiner Rückkehr vornehmlich warmtonig gemalte, arkadische, italienisierende Landschaften mit effektvoller Lichtstimmung durch goldgelbe Abendhimmel. Öl/Eichenholztafel. Ein Gemälde r. u. undeutl. sign.; Verso auf einem Rahmen bez. "signé a droite 1648" sowie "Collection de Baron Ross d'Amsterdam". Ca. 40,8 cm-42 cm x 51,5 cm-52,2 cm. Rahmen. Circle of Willem de Heusch (1612 - 1692). A pair of landscape paintings. Oil on oak panel. One painting indistinctly signed, further inscribed "signé a droite 1648" and "Collection de Baron Ross d'Amsterdam" on the reverse of the frame.

He likely studied with Jan Both as he later painted entirely in Both's style. Nothing certain is recorded of him except that he presided over the gild of Utrecht, whilst Cornelis Poelenburg, Jan Both and Jan Weenix formed the council of that body, in 1649. Ref. W.
