          T. J. (Tomar Jacob) Hileman (American, 1882-1945) was a historic photographer documenting the landscapes and Native American tribes of Glacier National Park, Montana. Subjects of the two (2) photogravures include: Chief Weasel Tail and Chief Bird Rattler. Professionally framed. Site sizes measure 12.5 in. x 10 in. and the frames measure 18.75 in. x 16 in. x .75 in. If lot is absent of a condition report one may be requested via email. Condition report is provided as an opinion only and is no guarantee as grading can be subjective. Buyer must view photographs or scans to assist in determining condition and ask further questions if so desired. Our in-house shipping department will gladly pack and ship any item that fits into a 14x14x14 inch or 30x5x24 inch or equivalent or smaller box/folio if it is not fragile or over 25lbs. We will charge for labor to pack and process based on actual time it takes, actual cost of materials used to pack and actual shipper charges that will include insurance and signature required. We generally use USPS and Fed Ex and compare the pricing between the two. Books maximum box size will be 14x14x14 inch or equivalent and will be shipped USPS Media Mail unless otherwise requested. We gladly will give shipping estimates prior to auction. Please make this request at least 24 hours prior to auction for our shipping department to respond. Apparently the photograph featured here was one of many displayed on the walls of Hileman's Kalispell, MT studio so that interested parties could order copies using the numbers and names boldly displayed on the gray mounts.           This is an original hand tinted photograph by T.J. Hileman (American, 1882-1945) of Red Rock Falls in Glacier National Park in Northwest Montana. The photograph is marked in the photograph “© HILEMAN” and shows the smooth waters of Red Rock Falls in Glacier National Park with the towering peaks in the distance. The circa 1920’s photograph is hand tinted and is hand written on the back in graphite “Red Rock Falls”. T.J. Hileman (1882-1945) moved to Kalispell, MT in 1911, opening his own portrait studio, after graduating from Effingham School of Photography in Chicago, Il. There he met Alice Georgeson; in 1913, they were the first couple to have been married in Glacier National Park. In 1924, Hileman became the official photographer for the Great Northern Railway. He is very well known for his scenic photographs of the park as well as for his portraits of the Blackfoot Indians of the area. This early piece by Tomar Jacob Hileman show a beautiful image with amazing hand tinted color in good condition, small fold at top left and bottom left but overall good. Measures 10 1/16” by 6 1/16”.

          The lot features two original photographs by T.J. Hileman (American, 1882-1945) of Waterton Lakes National Park Canada sister to Glacier National Park in Montana of Bertha Falls. Both are stamped and handwritten on the back, “Title (hand written) 6574 Bertha Falls Waterton Lakes NAT’L Park, Canada Copyright by T.J. Hileman, Kalispell, Mont.” T.J. Hileman (1882-1945) moved to Kalispell, MT in 1911, opening his own portrait studio, after graduating from Effingham School of Photography in Chicago, Il. There he met Alice Georgeson; in 1913, they were the first couple to have been married in Glacier National Park. In 1924, Hileman became the official photographer for the Great Northern Railway. He is very well known for his scenic photographs of the park as well as for his portraits of the Blackfoot Indians of the area. This hand-tinted, framed photo of Lake McDonald has a sticker on the back from Hileman's Kalispell shop. These early pieces by Tomar Jacob Hileman show a beautiful image of the towering rock face and flowing water of Bertha Falls in good condition. Each measures 10 5/8” by 6 7/8”. Another image by T.J. Hileman of a waterfall in Glacier or Waterton park in similar size have sold for $375 for a single image.

          You are bidding on an original T.j. Hileman hand tinted, signed photograph of Lake McDonald in Glacier National Park. T.J. Hileman (1882-1945) moved to Kalispell, MT in 1911, opening his own portrait studio, after graduating from Effingham School of Photography in Chicago, Il. This hand-tinted, framed photo of Lake McDonald has a sticker on the back from Hileman's Kalispell shop. On the back is also handwritten the name of the original owner, with the date "December 25, 1928". The photograph itself is embossed, in the lower left corner, with Hileman's distinctive signature and "Kalispell, Mont." The piece shows very good original condition with some wear to the frame. It measures 14.5" x 8".
