Hilgers', rückseitig ebenso, Maße: 22 x 31,5 cm, Rahmen 34,5 x 43,5 cm, Zustand: gut, an den Ecken perforiert, Kommentar: Hilgers war ein Landschaftsmaler der Düsseldorfer Malerschule. An der Düsseldorfer Akademie erhielt er von 1833-1844 seine künstlerische Ausbildung. Später war er Meisterschüler von Johann Wilhelm Schirmer und Mitglied der Künstlervereinigung Malkasten. Das hier gezeigte Bild entstand im letzten Jahr seines Berlinaufenthaltes (1844-1848).

Influenced by the Dutch old masters of the 16th and 17th centuries, the painter created numerous delicately colored landscapes of this kind, which are characterized by a superior painterly quality and technical precision. After a short stay in Berlin, he returned to Dusseldorf where he was active for the rest of his life.
