      GEORGE HINKE (1883-1959) "Santa's Joy." Illustration published in Ideals Magazine, Volume 10; Issue 6, December, 1953. Oil on canvas. 559x432 mm; 22x17 inches. Unsigned. Celebrated illustrator and painter George Hinke was known for his holiday scenes and contributed to countless magazine covers and advertisements. His depictions of Santa Claus for The Coca-Cola Company, which proliferated in the 1950s, helped form America's vision of the Christmas icon. Hinke's remaining inventory was donated to Ideals by his widow. This is the last published Santa painting by him on record in their company archives.
