German Description: Andreas Hölzl, deutscher Maler, erw. um 1770-1795, wurde 1776 Hofmaler des Fürstbischofs von Freising, hier: Porträt des Simon Fahrer, königl. bayer.       PAIR OOC'S - Portraits of Josephus Casparus and Maria Anna de Jaquemod, by Andreas Holzl, dated 1770 verso and with their identification, backstamped 'Staatliche Kunstsammlungen, Schloss Pillnitz' (just south of Dresden) and with loan label to Schloss Waldenburg (near Mannheim), he is depicted in a blue brocade coat, gold-embroidered waistcoat and white lace shirt, a letter in his left hand; she is in a blue dress with a white bodice and lace cuffs, a rose in her right hand, they are housed in matching gilt frames with nametags, SS: 34" x 26", OS: 41 1/2" x 33 1/2", cleaned and relined, some retouching.
