Framed (99.5 x 42.5 cm). additional: volume Bachmann, Erich, Heinrich Hönich, Prague 1943. Heinrich Hönich war Mitglied der Künstlergruppe "Die Bayern". Im Münchener Kunstgeschehen zu Beginn des 20. Jahrhunderts bildeten sich immer wieder neue Künstlervereinigungen. Neben bekannten Gruppen wie der Münchener Secession haben sich auch kleinere Zusammenschlüsse wie beispielsweise die "Luitpold-Gruppe" gefunden. Von dieser wiederum hat sich 1907 unter Führung des Künstlers Carl von Marr die Künstlergruppe "Die Bayern" abgespalten und bis 1929 im Glaspalast in München ausgestellt. Mitglieder waren u. a. Carl von Marr, Hans von Bartels, Ernst Liebermann und für eine Zeit auch Charles Palmié, Rudolf Sieck oder Albin Egger-Lienz. provenance: private collection, Austria.

"Between the spring of 1915 and the autumn of 1917, eleven battles raged in the Austro-Italian border area around the Isonzo river. The municipalities in the immediate vicinity were largely destroyed, including the former Austrian cities of Görz and Gradisca. Trieste, the most important port city of Austria, suffered economically, but had remained intact. This call for donations posted in Trieste to raise money on behalf of Görz and Gradisca, shows two poles decorated with garlands of twigs which carry banners emblazoned with the coat of arms of Trieste on one side and the initials of the two cities on the other side, intertwined behind a destroyed tower" (Ebyl p. 140). Der sudetendeutsche Maler und Grafiker lebte 1906-27 in München bis er 1927-45 an die Akademie in Prag berufen wurde. Nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg ließ er sich am Chiemsee nieder. Hönich schuf bevorzugt lyrische Landschaftsmotive in fein abgestimmtem Kolorit, die er mit Figuren belebte. Literatur: Vierhundert Bilder deutscher Kunst und Landschaft, Verlag Hermann A.
