    Miriam McKinnie Hofmeier (Illinois, 1906-1987) The Jewel Box, St. Louis The lithograph is signed by the artist in pencil below the image lower right and titled lower left. The rare book dealer and art gallery operator David Spivey shared the following information on a label verso: The Jewel Box, St. Louis. View of the famous botanical garden in a style influence by Cubism and Art Moderne. The artist was a multiple prize-winning graduate of the Kansas City Art Institute.     Miriam McKinnie Hofmeier (1906-1987) The Studio Circa 1932. The lithograph on Oriole Linen Bond watermark paper from an edition of only 50 prints is signed lower right and titled lower left. According to an inscription along the lower edge, the image won silver medal at the Midwestern Exhibition at the Kansas City art Institute. Records confirm that in 1932 Hofmeier was a silver medal recipient. Miriam McKinnie Hofmeier studied at the Kansas City Art Institute and the Minneapolis School of Fine Art. She was one of the few women artists involved with the Federal Art Project and completed several murals under that Depression era relief program. She also became associated with the Ste. Genevieve Art Colony. Image measures 15.5 x 13.5, sheet is 18 x 15.75, and frame is 25.5 x 21.75 inches.
