Twenty Four original pen and gouache illustrations by Edgar Alfred Holloway for idriess books. These illustrations were not used but could have been used for Forty Fathoms Deep, Madman's Island, Men of the Jungle and maybe a couple of others such as The Guerrilla Series or The Desert Column. They are originals on board and with captions and notes. As far as we can tell they have been never been used. The sizes of the illustrations very slightly but are basically 16 x 12 cms. The artist Edgar Alfred Holloway was born in Yorkshire UK in 1870. He worked in England and Canada illustrating military books before he migrated to Australia in the early 1920s. He illustrated many books for Angus and Robertson and Cornstalk Publishing. He signed his name as Edgar A Holloway, Edgar O'Holloway, E A Holloway and EAH. these are all signed EAH
